I replaced my Rule with a SEACHOICE model#19301 2000 GPH Bilge Pump. Mounted it on a small piece of 3/16″ Stainless steel plate, (along with the float switch) and it sits at the very back bottom and doesn’t move. Has worked perfectly since I installed it.
I like the rule tournaments cartridge type. More imprtant is your wire connections. I use race car water proof 2 pin connections. That way when the fail in the tournament. The most likely time. I can close the intake and have it changed in about 3 minutes before any thing dies. I also keep a bubbler with battery clamps. Some times when its really hot the extra air cools the the water enough to hold a bit more oxygen. Also the manufacturer is very good about sending replacements under warranty. They all fail. Its your plan that matters
suggestion: purchase a cheap bilge pump also and a hose, have 12 volts available even if you buy a jumper box. Why? If you ever have a bilge pump problem or it becomes clogged, you can save your boat with it. My boat has the ability to pump 3600 gallons per hour; I can pass over a bilge pump or 2 in seconds to save a boat! Saved the old 30 below:
Rule 1500. Do yourself a favor and install 2. 1 on a float switch and a separate as a back up on a manual switch. With any luck at all you’ll never need the 2nd but you can’t put a price on it if you do.
Rule 2000 with 1 1 1/8” hose to a nice stainless thru hull with proper crimp w/ heat shrink connectors, to a waterproof fuse holder on bat1. Make sure to not be a hack when you crimp, don’t puncture the heat shrink

Use the 2000. You never know how many holes will get shot in your bottom.

Rule has lasted 20 years for me. They seem to hold up better in salt water
