Need some advice looking in to a new Honda 90 and a new Honda 60 for a 16.5 hull want to hear from you guys running the 60 on a 17 ft boat if its got enough go for the hull currently I have a 110 Johnson 2 stroke on it

I’d say you need at least a 70 hp

I have a Suzuki 60 on a 17ft aluminum center console, and it’ll do 40 with 2 people and all our gear with no problem. I’m not sure about the Hondas, but with Suzuki the jump from the 60 to the 70, is where you go from 3 to 4 cylinders and it adds over a hundred pounds to the transom. So the power to weight just wasn’t worth it for the increased draft at the back of the boat for me.

Run a 90 four stroke on my 21 dlx. Scoots just fine loaded .
