Looking to get a backup motor for my rig. It’s primarily used for gator and duck hunting so i run a mud motor. That being said, I do a lot of saltwater gigging, bullynetting, fishing, etc and the salt really wears on mud motors so I’m on the search for an outboard to strap on the boat for part of the year.
I’m looking at a 2011 evinrude etc 90 but I’ve never been the biggest fan of etec’s and have heard horror stories. Also looking at a 2007 Tohatsu 50hp TLDI. This motor looks brand new and has low hours. Once again I’ve never been the biggest Tohatsu fan.
Any owners of either (preferably same year motors) that could shed light on reliability, common problems, etc???
