Stuck between 22-24 pathfinder vs sportsman in the same length. Always been a pathfinder fan but the sportsman looks nice. Anyone have feedback on sportsman?

I own a sportsman masters 207. I love the hull. It has a very soft ride and very well built with no flex or creaking. Their initial build quality, really it’s quality assurance out of the factory is something you need to watch out for. They may have improved a lot since 2018 but once mine as addressed it’s been an awesome boat. Get lots of compliments from professional fishing captains who ride in it. They are all impressed. Ill own mine indefinitely through repowers.

Sportsman is a good boat. Pathfinder you will find better fit and finish and will likely hold resale value better.

In the end it comes down to your needs and wants and how the trade offs between the two work for you. I highly recommend sea trials on both if possible. Where are you located

Path is a different tier boat. Time will tell on how the craftsmanship on the Sportsman holds up compared to Pathy. There’s a ton of old Pathfinders on the water being repowered. That should tell you something.

I have a 2024 Sportsman 232 Open with a 300 Yamaha. If you go new, take a look at the Sportsman. They made some pretty nice updates to the hull for 2024 and the Seakeeper Ride that comes standard makes it a nice riding boat in the chop. It’s a fairly versatile boat…great for the island, inshore and offshore.

That said, I’ve fished on a Pathfinder inshore and I was really impressed with how it cut through the chop in the bay. To me though, it was more of a fishing machine and less of a family boat. But it was a charter boat rigged for fishing.

Good luck with whatever direction you take!
