Running a 70hp 4 stroke on my 16ft boat rated for a 50. Boat had a 40 on it when I bought it and it just didn’t perform the way I wanted. I have alot better hole shot, top end, and fuel economy now.

I’ve seen it rip the transom off a pontoon causing a big hole requiring them to beach it. Made it 2 miles. Rated 90. Dude had an old 150yammy laying around.

I’ve got a 50 4stroke on my skiff that was rated for a 30. It hauls the mail 43mph

I think I’m in that boat. 15 with a 115

Which brings up a question I’ve always had. If you do exceed the recommended hull rating, is it illegal and punishable? Or just dangerous according to the hull manufacturer’s specifications?

Never had any legal issues with any of the many I’ve had. These two have definitely got the most looks though. This one had a 115 when I got it, rated for 140 I have a new 300 on it
