I need some propeller advice.
I’m repowering my 16′ Redfish Bull Red with a 90 Suzuki and have been asked what prop I want with the engine. Currently running a 90 Etec with a 4-blade Solas 13 1/4″, 15 pitch prop. This engine has a 2:1 gear ratio and the Suzuki has a 2.59:1. The Suzuki props are all 3-blade and 14″ diameter.
I’m generally happy with how it performs now, but I have to trim the engine to get the bow to rise and have the engine turn higher than 4500 rpm. When trimmed out, I continue to gain speed up to the redline of ~5500. Unsure if that’s a characteristic of this hull or if the prop is mismatched.
This hull is pretty similar to a Hewes Redfisher 16, which may be a good starting point.
Appreciate the guidance!

If boat riding good and speed you need to have more of cup in prop.
That will give more lift at bow without trimming as much.
If you getting good rpms that is route I would go.

You can’t compare the two but the dealer should be able to get you close it’s odd they didn’t recommend one

I would see if there is a forum or FB page for that brand of boats. Every hull and motor combo is different and people want different things out of their prop.
Best bet would be to find a prop shop that lets you test propellers to get dialed in. Also, i would try to look into other props and not just suzuki, especially if you like a 4 blade as many people do.

Save your money and time. Call Marcus at Powertech propeller. He’ll get you right!

You’ll prolly end up running a 14×20 or a 14×18 3 blade
